Child Abuse Prevention Month looks a little bit different this year, as we all adjust to life during the COVID-19 crisis. You'll still see some pinwheel gardens, and hear our PSA urging folks to support parents and visit the K(no)w More website on the radio. Local Dari Mart locations are displaying "Child Abuse IS Preventable" posters.
But given these uncertain, unprecedented times, we've decided to take the month of Aprl - and beyond - to appreciate the individuals and organizations who keep our community strong, connected, and healthy. We'll be posting a new "gratitude graphic" every day on Facebook. On April 1, we honored health care workers, who are on the front lines of keeping us safe from COVID-19 and whose incredible dedication, both in Lane County and across the country, has become so evident in the past month or so. On April 2, we recognized all the organizations and volunteers supporting our unhoused neighbors, including Carry It Forward, ShelterCare, the White Bird Clinic, and the Egan Warming Center.
We invite you to follow us on Facebook and like our posts when one of the appreciations resonates with you. Stay home, stay safe, stay healthy, and know we will get through this the way our community always gets through tough times: together.
