Community Support for the Welcome Baby Box

The Welcome Baby Box project in South Lane got a generous boost recently from the Deacons Fund of the First Presbyterian Church in Cottage Grove, which made a $500 donation. The WBB also received the $1,500 Katherine Bisbee Fund Community Mission Grant from Presbytery of the Cascades. The grant funds programs that "strengthen the bonds of communities, neighborhoods and families" and this year focused on supporting victims of domestic violence and/or child abuse and neglect." Thank you!

Welcome Baby Box Now a Reality

South Lane's Welcome Baby Box program is up and running, making deliveries to families with infants in the region with resources, supplies, and the eponymous "box," a Smitten safe sleep system made by Portland company Pip & Grow. Let's give a big hand to the South Lane RLT and everyone in the community who has stepped forward to sponsor items, make donations, and volunteer their time.

90by30 Hosts Community Baby Shower in Cottage Grove

A family resource center, 90by30, is working with Pip and Grow to unveil the Welcome Baby Box project. Organizers said baby boxes lower the risk of sudden infant death syndrome or SIDS. The project will also provide new parents with essentials. The baby shower will take place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Bohemia Park. Families can also register for the baby boxes. They will be available to all infants born in south Lane County starting in August.
