Pinwheel Gardens for CAPM

14 Apr 2020
We've understandably scaled back our usual CAPM activities this year as Oregonians stay home and stay safe, but you'll still see pinwheel gardens in some Lane County regions, and see our "Child Abuse IS Preventable" posters in Dari Mart windows, Here are a few pictures from Veneta, Florence, Mapleton, and Pleasant Hill of the blue gardens popping up in those areas.

A Month of Appreciation

2 Apr 2020
Child Abuse Prevention Month looks a little bit different this year, as we all adjust to life during the COVID-19 crisis. You'll still see some pinwheel gardens, and hear our PSA urging folks to support parents and visit the K(no)w More website on the radio. Local Dari Mart locations are displaying "Child Abuse IS Preventable" posters. But given these uncertain, unprecedented times, we've decided to take the month of Aprl - and beyond - to appreciate the individuals and organizations who keep our community strong, connected, and healthy. We'll be posting a new "gratitude graphic" every day on Facebook . On April 1, we honored health care workers , who are on the front lines of keeping us...

Wrapping Up CAPM 2019

1 May 2019
Child Abuse Prevention Month 2019 is officially over, but we're excited to continue the momentum begun during CAPM to keep spreading the word about our new Know More website , which is full of ways to make a difference in the lives of families and kids every day of the year. All seven of 90by30's Lane County regions really went to town with promoting awarenress this year. From pinwheel gardens to painted store windows to articles in local papers, our Regional Leadership Teams really put in the work this year. Thank you everyone who dressed in blue, attended a 90by30 open house, or otherwise stood up for children during the key month of April!

Visit Our New Website!

16 Apr 2019
We're halfway through Child Abuse Prevention Month, and we are excited to officially launch 90by30's new website and media campaign, K(no)w More . When we know more, we can say no more to child abuse and neglect - and we can work together to keep kids safe, healthy, and nurtured. All of us want kids and youth in our community to be safe, but it’s not always clear what each of us can do to reduce child abuse and neglect. K(no)w More points to many practical steps we can all take. Whatever your role in the community – a friend, educator, business owner, a person of faith – there are ways you can support parents and kids in Lane County. There are things we can all do every day and resources we...

CAPM News Coverage

4 Apr 2019
90by30's Child Abuse Prevention Month efforts are receiving lots of local news coverage! The Cottage Grove Sentinel ran an article entitled " Raising Awareness One Pinwheel at a Time " about South Lane's commitment to reducing child abuse and neglect that highlighted the K(no)w More website and media campaign launching on April 15. South Lane Regional Leadership Team Coordinator Rachel Nordquist spoke to the importance of the campaign's theme of "A connected child is a protected child" and its message that we all have a role to play in helping kids and families: I think its everybody’s place to learn the skills and the tools to be able to just be an advocate for a struggling parent or...

Blue Sunday Marks CAPM Finale

24 May 2018
April 2018 was one of our biggest efforts for Child Abuse Prevention Month ever - the number of pinwheel gardens alone outnumbered previous years by a considerable margin. We had particular success this year with participation in Blue Sunday, a nationally recognized day for faith communities to come together in a commitment to end child abuse. Numerous churches in West Lane participated, with one Swisshome pastor devoting the day's sermon to the subject. The most stylish Blue Sunday took place in the McKenzie region, however. The appropriately named Blue River branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints showed up for Sunday service in their dapper blue best. Sandra Acevedo, at...

Above and Beyond for CAPM in West Lane

12 Apr 2018
Three Rivers Casino and Resort
West Lane is outdoing itself this year for Child Abuse Prevention Month, with pinwheels and blue ribbons all over town. The Three Rivers Casino and Resort in Florence has planted what must be the largest pinwheel garden in the county - even bigger and better than previous years' efforts! Students at Mapleton Middle/High tied blue ribbons all over their school's fences, making a bold statement to passersby. The Boys and Girls Club, Lions Club, and Rotary have all gotten involved, with Vonnie McClellan, the West Lane RLT's CAPM team leader, making pinwheel bouquets for each table at a recent Rotary Club meeting to thank its members for their financial support of the region's CAPM projects. We...
